Question 1

Will painted cabinets chip easily?

Accepted Answer

Not when done right! We use industrial cabinet primers and hard-cure urethane acrylic enamels designed specifically for heavy daily kitchen use.

Question 2

Can you hide heavy oak grain when painting cabinets?

Accepted Answer

Yes, we offer grain filling options that smooth out deep open grain patterns prior to priming.

Question 3

How long does cabinet refinishing take?

Accepted Answer

The average project takes 5 to 7 days from door removal to final reinstallation. This timeline includes one day for careful removal and labeling of all doors and drawer fronts, two to three days for offsite degreasing, sanding, priming, and applying multiple coats of cabinet enamel with proper curing time between each coat, and one to two days for reinstallation, hardware mounting, and final hinge adjustments. We keep your kitchen functional throughout most of the process by leaving the cabinet boxes in place, and we provide a clear project timeline during your free consultation so you can plan accordingly.

Question 4

What colors are most popular for cabinet refinishing in coastal Georgia homes?

Accepted Answer

In Brunswick and the Golden Isles, the most requested cabinet colors include crisp whites and soft creams for a bright, airy coastal feel, muted sage greens and soft blues that echo our coastal surroundings, deep navy and charcoal for dramatic island accents, and warm greige tones for a timeless transitional look. Our team provides custom color guidance to help you select a hue that complements your countertops, backsplash, flooring, and natural lighting. We also offer two-tone cabinet palettes, where upper cabinets are painted a lighter shade and lower cabinets a deeper tone, creating visual depth and designer appeal.

Question 5

Can you add new hardware or soft-close hinges during refinishing?

Accepted Answer

Yes, absolutely! Cabinet refinishing is the perfect opportunity to upgrade your hardware and hinges. We can install new knobs, pulls, or handles in any finish — brushed nickel, matte black, polished brass, or antique bronze — to complement your new cabinet color. We also offer soft-close hinge upgrades that prevent doors from slamming, extending the life of your cabinets and adding a premium feel. If your existing hinge locations do not match new hardware, we carefully fill and redrill to ensure perfect alignment. Hardware installation is included as part of the refinishing process.

Question 6

How do I clean and maintain my refinished cabinets?

Accepted Answer

We apply a factory-durable urethane acrylic enamel topcoat that is highly resistant to chipping, staining, and moisture. For routine cleaning, simply wipe cabinets with a soft damp cloth and mild dish soap — avoid abrasive cleaners, scouring pads, or harsh chemical solvents. Grease splatter near the stove should be wiped promptly to prevent buildup. The cured enamel finish is fully washable after 7 to 10 days of final curing. With proper care, your refinished cabinets will maintain their beautiful, smooth appearance for 10 to 15 years or more, making refinishing one of the highest-ROI updates for your kitchen.
